Hillcrest Resort is located on beautiful Big Sandy Lake, a fascinating lake with 25 islands, the largest of which can be viewed from the lodge. The resort features 7 year round cabins and brand new lodge facilities. The lodge has a full liquor license, variety of foods and seating for up to 100 people. Perfect after a day of fishing or snowmobiling.

There are three rivers that empty into Big Sandy which are navigable so you can both river and lake fish. Big Sandy is noted for walleye, northern, and crappie. On the river bottoms  bullheads can be found. There is a dam at the north end that empties into the Mississippi River, a nice ride by boat, with interesting culture. You can also go by boat into Aitkin Lake and find sunfish.

To assure your enjoyment and comfort we have a sandy swimming beach with no drop offs, great for a cool dip on those hot summer days.

The McGregor / Big Sandy Lake area offers excellent duck, bear, deer and grouse hunting. Also many miles of groomed trails for snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Hillcrest Resort is located on some of the finest snowmobile trail systems in Minnesota. Located on the edge of the Savanna State Forest, makes it a perfect location to enjoy all nature has to offer.
